A bonsai is a plant which takes many steps and multiple generations of tending in order to successfully grow.
Cultivation
To start a bonsai, take a cutting from a Yew Tree using shears. Plant the yew tree cutting in a Bowl of Soil to get Dry Yew Cutting in Bowl. From here, a bonsai will require either pruning with shears or watering (with either Bowl of Water or Full Water Pouch). The treatment required can be seen using the recipe index in the bottom right side of your screen. Some states require attention within 10-30 minutes or it will die. In the wet state, it will grow to the next state over 30 minutes - 1 hour.

After 1 hour, the wet ancient bonsai will turn into dry ancient bonsai, and once you have reached this loop, you have completed the bonsai.
Dead young yew bonsai can be turned into bowl of soil by digging with sharp stone or shovel. Dead yew bonsai can be dug up with either sharp stone or shovel and can be chopped into kindling.
