A Radio is a communication device which facilitates global communication (over the entire server map). In order to receive a broadcast signal, both devices must be tuned to the same frequency (high, medium or low)
There are two types of radio available. The first, added in v.191, consists of a Spark Gap Transmitter and a Marconi Receiver. It operates by adding and removing the Daniell Cell on the transmitter, which in turn causes a bulb to turn on and off on the receiver. This makes it suited to Morse code.

Combine two Daniell Cells and add them to the receiver.
Add a short, medium or long Antenna to choose high, medium or low frequency reception respectively.

AM Transmitter[edit | edit source]
Add Charcoal to Copper Foil, and add another Copper Foil to make a carbon sandwich. Then add Copper Wire to make a Carbon Microphone. Add this to Boards to form the Transmitter base. Choose your location wisely, as the transmitter cannot be moved after this.
Adding either one, two or three Capacitors will set the frequency to High, Medium, or Low respectively. Adding Two Daniell Cells will then power the device. The cells and capacitors can be removed again to choose a different frequency. To use the radio, stand next to the transmitter (within one or two tiles) and speak. If you also have a receiver nearby which is set to the same frequency, you will be able to tell if the device is working as you will see a duplicate speech bubble above the receiver.
AM Receiver[edit | edit source]
Adding either a long, medium, or short Antenna will set the frequency to Low, Medium, or High respectively. Speak into an AM Transmitter set to the same frequency to test if the receiver works.The Antenna can be removed again to choose a different frequency.
